JAPANESE GRANT ASSISTANCE “THE PROGRAMME FOR EMERGENCY RECOVERY”

On April 24 2024 the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination (UIPVE) received the incubators for seed germination and refrigerators with freezers for reagents storage of which were procured under Japanese Grant Assistance “The Programme for Emergency Recovery” by support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The new plant varieties testing requires a keeping of the modern high technological level of testing and support equipment. This provides the qualitative researches for a sowing qualities of seeds determination and plant varieties assessment by biochemical and molecular markers.

The incubators which have been received within the grant assistance will be utilized in the Laboratories of the UIPVE for a seed germination ability determination. This analysis is the one of important characteristics of seeds sowing qualities and indicators of time determination to replace official seed samples. The utilization such modern incubators with cooling will allow to carry out a seed analysis very fast and under controlled environment condition. This analysis can be carried out for both seeds which are stored for a long term and the current season seed harvest.

Thanks to the received assistance, the high quality of analysis carrying out will be maintained in the Laboratories of the UIPVE, in particular, with the providing of storage of reagents for molecular biology under necessary low temperature. This will allow to use resources maximal efficiently.
