On November 06, 2024 Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination (UIPVE) has received three High-speed centrifuges with cooling system under Japanese Grant Assistance “The Programme for Emergency Recovery” from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

High-speed centrifuges with cooling system are used for components separation of suspensions during DNA and storage proteins extraction, a preparation of reagents mixture for PCA and capillary electrophoresis.

The received centrifuges are placed in three laboratory rooms of the Laboratory of molecular-genetic analysis of UIPVE, where studies of molecular-genetic polymorphism of plant varieties are performed using DNA markers and storage proteins pattern.

The main advantage of the centrifuges which are given under the grant assistance is that they are fitted with cooling systems. This feature prevents centrifuged mixtures from overheating taking into account a high speed of a centrifugation – up to 12,000 rpm. The cooling system helps decrease and keep an optimal temperature of a sample for particular analysis. Especially, this is important for molecular-genetic analysis when the micro volumes (10-100 µl) are used.
