As part of the implementation of the grant assistance «Emergency Recovery Programme» from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Chernihiv laboratory of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination received a modern Automatic Seed Counter.
The equipment is actively used in the process of preparing samples for laboratory testing, which significantly increases the efficiency, accuracy and speed of the specialists' work. Automated seed dosing makes it possible to optimise the process of determining key quality indicators and contributes to further digitalisation of laboratory practice in the plant variety examination system.
In addition, as part of the maintenance of the Shimadzu Nexsis GC 20-30, an ultra-precise gas chromatograph used to determine the fatty acid composition of rapeseed and sunflower oil, the Shimadzu Combi Filter (Hydrocarbon/Moisture) and Shimadzu Triple Filter provided under the Emergency Recovery Programme were replaced. Timely maintenance with periodic replacement of consumables for the equipment is a prerequisite for ensuring stable operation of the instruments and obtaining accurate and high-quality research results.
UIPVE continues to strengthen its material and technical base to meet the challenges of time, improve the quality of research and introduce innovative approaches in the field of varietal examination.
We express our sincere gratitude to the people of Japan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for their assistance and ongoing support of state variety testing in Ukraine.
The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
