Five Plot Combine Harvesters have been handed over by Lviv, Rivne, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv affiliates of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination (UIPVE) for harvesting the yield from testing plots of qualification examination for DUS and VCU tests. These agricultural machines have been received from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Poltava affiliate of UIPVE harvested testing plots of sunflower, sorghum and maize within VCU test. Lviv affiliate of UIPVE used received combine for harvesting soybean of VCU test.

The utilization of the received combine harvesters accelerated harvest process significantly, because these combines are equipped with a mechanism of automatic sampling for laboratorial tests. The moisture content is measured and a yield of testing varieties is calculated during the harvesting. These plot combine harvesters are capable to harvest the yield in mechanized and quick way without grain loss and damages.

The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination express its gratitude to people of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for provided assistance and support of the state plant varieties testing in Ukraine.

The implementation of the project is possible with support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
