On June 19, 2024 the operation and maintenance training of the Real-Time Quantitative Thermal Cycler was held in the Laboratory of Molecular Genetic Analysis of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination (UIPVE). This equipment was received under Japanese Grant Assistance “The Programme for Emergency Recovery”.

During the training employees of the Laboratory were got acquainted with user interface, software, settings and calibration of the Thermal Cycler. They have learned an analysis programming, the samples preparation and equipment setting up, results analyzing.

Under the supervising of experienced and skillful engineer and methodologist Roman Gulkovskyi of the company which represents the manufacturer in Ukraine, employees of the Laboratory carried out a Quantitative Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and End Point PCR.

The important stage of the training was the results analysis, interpretation and proceeding of the obtained data.

The received Real-Time Quantitative Thermal Cycler and obtained knowledge will be used in UIPVE for new varieties studies with DNA markers and varieties identification within seed certification in case the molecular methods are used.

The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination express its gratitude to people of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for provided assistance and support of the state plant varieties testing in Ukraine.

The implementation of the project is possible with support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
