  On June 25, 2024 the operation and maintenance training of plot Seeders and Combine Harvesters was held at Lviv affiliate of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination (UIPVE). These agricultural machines were received under Japanese Grant Assistance “The Programme for Emergency Recovery”. Overall, affiliates of UIPVE received 10 plot Seeders and 5 Combine Harvesters.

The training was participated by 32 employees of UIPVE affiliates: directors and specialists. The representers of the manufacturer of these agricultural machines got equated the participants with setting up and using Plot Combine Harvester and Seeder for precise sowing.

The theoretical and practical lessons were carried out. The practical part of the lesson included the demonstration the sowing and grain harvesting on the plots of Lviv affiliate.

The utilization of new modern agricultural machines allows to conduct the field tests of qualification examination of plant varieties for Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability (DUS) and Value for Cultivation and Use (VCU) with the high quality. The necessary requirements for the field tests within DUS and VCU are ensuring even sowing on the testing plots with a given seeding rate and depth, fast mechanized crop harvesting from the testing plots without its loss during harvesting and without injury to the grain.

The plot Seeders and Combine Harvesters, which received within the grant assistance meet all the above-noted requirements completely. These agricultural machines will be used in the nearest season for sowing and harvesting of the new testing plant varieties on the plots.

The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination express its gratitude to people of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for provided assistance and support of the state plant varieties testing in Ukraine.
