ПовернутисьOn December 25 2023 the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination received the capillary columns and fuel gas filters for the gas chromatograph of which were procured under Japanese Grant Assistance “The Programme for Emergency Recovery” by support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The gas chromatograph is used for studying of fat composition content in the seed oil of rapeseed and sunflower varieties within the qualification examination for testing the value for cultivation or use (VCU) of agricultural crops in Ukraine. The capillary columns and fuel gas filters as accessories are the obligatory parts for the equipment properly work, because the separation of oil components specifically proceed in the capillary column. The different types of fuel gas filters provide the carrier gas and the air of standardized purity to the specific parts of the gas chromatograph.
The studying of rapeseed and sunflower varieties for the oil composition content is the highly valuable for the VCU tests, because it allows to determine the further purpose of use these varieties (oil and technical). The purpose of use is determined based on the percentage of erucic and oleic acid in rapeseed and sunflower oil, respectively. These studies are extremely important for high-oleic sunflower varieties which are bred for food purposes. The reason is that these varieties need the special conditions for growing (growing separated from other varieties) to reach high variety purity and compliance to the standardized requirements to products.
The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination express its gratitude to people from Japan and JICA for provided assistance taking into account the importance of scientific researches for new plant varieties investigation in the formation of national plant varieties sources.
